Louise Trout

"I always feel honored when someone says to me,
'The mug you made is my favorite cup, and I just
can't have my coffee in anything else.'"

Lulu Ceramics offers strong, durable, hand-crafted
serving pieces for everyday use by big people, little
people, pets, and plants. Louise Trout strives to
make pots that contribute to people's enjoyment of
home. For everyday use or an event, Trout believes
that handmade serving pieces make a meal special.

Trout creates all serving pieces from start to finish,
from throwing and stamping to glazing and firing.
Withstanding the rigors of everyday use is an
important reason for Trout to work in cone 6 clay. Her
pieces are dishwasher and oven safe, and product
tested by her two children.

From her first clay class in high school, Trout knew
clay was the thing for her. She studied at the
Massachusetts College of Art and Design and the
Maine College of Art, and received her B.F.A. at the
University of Southern Maine in Portland. After
college, she worked as an apprentice at Sawyer
Street Studios and eventually became an owner in
the ceramic artist collective located in South
Portland, Maine.
