Janine Sopp
Ceramic artist Janine Sopp creates one of a kind pieces and collections in her home furnishings and accessory design studio in Brooklyn, NY. Using her degree in Fashion Design, Sopp worked for seven years in clothing and textile design. Then, following a trip through Europe and Morocco that was supported by the not-for-profit organization Energie for Artists, Inc., she uncovered her deeper artistic vision and her desire to mold clay. Thus began her life as a ceramic artist, in which she combined her love of the responsiveness of clay with her passion for color and texture.
Today, Sopp creates various collections that are inspired by her travels. The “Moroccan Collection” has recognizable elements of mosaic decoration and Moorish colors. The “Mediterranean Collection” – including her line of Judaica with its ancient feeling – is inspired by the white washed buildings of Italy and the Greek Islands and the architectural details of these regions.
