David D'Imperio
David D’Imperio is an artisan, designer and inventor
who has focused his career on working with light. The
objects he creates are organic in form and yet machine-
like in craft. His lights are assembled from a variety of
materials both traditional and modern with a lightness
and clarity that reveal aesthetic detail and fine
workmanship.
In D’Imperio’s work, the brightness, miniature qualities
and lack of obvious electrical components convey a
sense of magic. His subtle use of technology unites
structure and power with an elegant simplicity that
seems to defy gravity. The presence of these sculptures
in a room can enliven the space with a quality of light
that is both functional and beautiful.
D’Imperio has received numerous awards for the past
several years, the most recent of which was received in
February 2008 at the American Craft Council Show in
Baltimore, Maryland.
