Artist Statement: My one-of-a-kind pottery is gas
and/or wood fired and fumed with soda bicarbonate
to enhance colors and surface textures. I throw and
altered my personal blend of white stoneware clay
and use several of my own developed glazes.
These pots are decorative, functional, and intended
for everyday use, enjoyment, and the rigors of the
modern kitchen (oven, dishwasher, and microwave
safe). (The oven should always be preheated before
placing hand-made pottery into it.)
My experiences as a visiting artist and graduate
student in China have given me a framework to
connect Chinese architecture and their gentle
sensibilities with form to western utilitarian
ceramics. Enjoy using this unique pottery every day.
